Marijuana rots your teeth, makes you more likely to die from heart problems, screws up your genetic expression, and causes severe mental illness. Next up in the list of its bad effects? It makes you older, faster. A recent study from Chinese researchers evaluated the association between marijuana use and levels of α-Klotho, a protein linked to longevity and healthy aging, among US adults. The study found that current marijuana use was significantly associated with lower Klotho levels (8.4% lower) compared to never-users. This suggests that those who use marijuana age faster and worse than those who don’t. Aging is natural; speeding up the process by ingesting toxic chemicals makes zero sense for anyone.
