“SAFE” Banking Act Excluded from NDAA Bill

(Alexandria, VA) – Today, following negotiations between the House and Senate, the “SAFE” Banking Act was defeated yet again, as it is now officially excluded from the National Defense Authorization Act, or NDAA, a large annual bill that sets policy for the Pentagon.

Dr. Kevin Sabet, president of Smart Approaches to Marijuana (SAM) released the following statement in response:

“We are grateful to have helped defeat this banking provision yet again. This is a historic win for parents and communities. And it’s a huge blow for the bankers, lobbyists, and investors trying to gain a foothold into the US economy by selling today’s high potency THC products. If passed, the provision would have allowed large, multinational financial institutions and investors to expand their operations and rank in more profits during this time of unprecedented addiction in our country. Today’s news gives hope to the countless individuals, families, and communities touched by addiction.”
